Abstract:

The analysis of fingerprints using Sodium-Dodecyl-Sulfate PolyAcrylamide Gel Electrophoresis and applying Silver Staining technique make it possible to identify various proteins in fingerprints. This technique involves the movement of dissolved proteins on a polymeric membrane with electric current. Finally, considering the molecular weight of proteins, bands will be observed on the membrane which makes the identification possible. Having done this, four protein bands will be identified: the two major ones are those with molecular weights 56 and 65kd. The other two strips have the molecular weights of 48 and 52 kd and there are other bands adjacent to them with lower molecular weights. The mechanism of proteins identification is that with the aid of Western blots technique one can identify three special antibodies which are: Anti-Keratin, Anti-Cathepsin and Anti-Dermcidin. Keratin and Cathespin Antigens are present in a layer which yields from Desqumation of Stratum Corneum while Anti-Cathepsin and Anti-= Dermcidin exist in ECCRIN SWEAT. The two major identified bands on Western blots membrane are Keratin 1 & 10. The two other bands are Cathepsin-D which exhibits self-reparation activities. In addition, Dermcidin antigen will not be observed on Western blots. These antibodies are identified on PVDF membranes, Whitened and non-whitened paper. The important tissue here is the identification of all antibodies on these membranes.

Abstract:

Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis (CF) have some identical manifestations. In the present study, the frequency of positive SWEAT test was assessed in asthmatic children. This cross-sectional study was performed in asthmatic children, who were referred to Bahrami Children Hospital, Tehran, during July 2003 to July 2005. SWEAT test was performed for all children. One hundred and thirty five (95 males and 40 females) asthmatic were studied. SWEAT test was positive in 35 (26%) patients. Major signs and symptoms among these 35 patients were: Cough (35/35), Dyspnea (7/35), Chronic Diarrhea (6/35), and steatorrhea (1/35). Failure to thrive was found in 31 of 35 patients. The mean duration of asthma in patients with positive test was 49.3 months, which was significantly higher than 18.1 months in the group with negative test (P=0.001). Significant relations between recurrent respiratory tract infections (P=0.029), chronic diarrhea (P=0.001), failure to thrive (P=0.0001), and positive SWEAT test were found. SWEAT test should be recommended in asthmatic children with recurrent upper respiratory tract infections, long duration of asthma, chronic diarrhea, and failure to thrive

Abstract:

A case of pleomorphic adenoma in SWEAT gland is reported here. The histopathologic report confirmed the diagnosis. Pleomorphic adenoma is most common in salivary glands but very rare in SWEAT glands. Pleomorphic adenoma in SWEAT gland and the similar tumors of ECCRINg SWEAT gland are described that bear a striking resemblance to pleomorphic adenomas of salivary gland. Upon closer examination, the tumor contained areas of apocrine decapitation secretory activity , and primitive hair follicles indicating cutaneous rather than mucosal origin. One year follow-up examination has revealed no evidence of recurrence.

Abstract:

SWEAT gland adenocarcinoma is a relatively uncommon malignancy. Clinical features are painless red or violet papules and nodules that can occasionally become ulcerated. The biological behavior is aggressive and metastatic SWEAT gland carcinoma spreads through the lymphatic. The treatment of choice is wide surgical excision with regional lymph node dissection. The portrayed ase was a 60-year-old female who presented with an ulcerative plaque on the scalp. Skin biopsy, radiologic examination, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assay revealed adenocarcinoma of the SWEAT gland. Reconstructive surgery was performed immediately after Mohs surgery to repair the damaged site.

Abstract:

Wearable potentiometric ion sensors (WPISs) have emerged as exciting analytical platforms that combine chemical, material, and electronic advancements to provide physiological information during various human activities. The real possibility of wearing an analytical device with diverse configurations, such as SWEATbands, patches, or garments, without disturbing the wearer's comfort has enabled potentiometric ion sensors to serve as both healthcare monitoring and improve the performance of athletes.
